Healthy Tips: Increase your Metabolism


Metabolism: how your body breaks down nutrients to sustain life.  It’s an important factor when trying to lose weight or trim down.  There are a few methods that can help you naturally increase your body’s ability to burn calories, these include:

  • Smaller meals more often – eat a small healthy balanced every 2-3 hours, or snack on healthy foods such as vegetables and fruit regularly
  • Increase your lean muscle mass – you can achieve this by doing more resistance training. In essence, using some form of resistance, be it exercise bands, weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, etc.  Try one of my workouts http://www.fitnutblog.com/search/label/Workouts
  • Eating Breakfast – kick start your metabolism early, so you don’t extend the starvation from sleep any longer then required
Your metabolism is like a fireplace, it’s constantly burning calories to keep you active.  Your lean muscle mass acts as logs in that fireplace, the more logs (lean muscle mass) you have in the fire, the bigger the fire (metabolic rate) will be and vice versa.  So do your best boy scout impression and try to get that inferno raging inside you.
